2) Unloose the lug nuts using a lug wrench. Detach each of the lug nuts that hold the wheels about two thirds of the way.

3) Carefully jack the car up until the wheel can be removed easily. Make sure to place something strong behind the wheels that are on the ground to stop the car from rolling forward or backward.

4) Remove the wheels. Loosen and remove all the lug nuts of the wheels.

5) Remove the caliper bolts. Using the correct size socket or ring spanner, loosen and remove the bolts.

6) Prepare a piece of light tie wire and hang the caliper up carefully by the wire so that it doesn’t drop.

7) Inspect the fluid level by drawing some fluid from the master cylinder before proceeding to squeeze the brake caliper pistons.

8 ) Remove the pads. Make sure not to damage the caliper or brake line while getting them out.

9) Put the new pads on. Attach the new pads exactly the way the old ones were.

10) Check the brake fluid and add when necessary.

11) Slide the caliper slowly back over the rotor.

12) Place the wheel back on, tighten the lug nuts and lower the car.

How do tires affect braking of your car

Most of you commonly think that your brakes are responsible for making the car stop by simply pressing the brake pedal therefore sending hydraulic pressure to the brake pads. But, the real reason for the car’s stopping is within the tires. But, the effect of the tires when braking differs to the size, thickness, stiffness and the type of road the car was in. Wider tires have bigger sidewall based on the material used. What is ABS and why is it important

ABS system or antilock braking system is a feature preventing sliding and wheel lockup when the emergency brake is applied. By preventing the wheel lock up, ABS allows the driver to continue steering the car maintaining control and allows the driver to stop the car at the shortest distance if possible. An ABS system tends to push the brakes at an average of 20 times per second while allowing the driver to take control with manoeuvring process easily. New cars are provided with the antilock braking system as standard equipment. However, older cars or any car that has no antilock brake equipment is more frustrating to maneuver. The procedure shows that the driver should push the brakes repeatedly so that the car will not slide. Thus, a car having an antilock brake system would make a big difference for the driver. All the driver has to do is to push the brake pedal and hold it until the car will completely stop therefore preventing the car to slide while braking.

ABS comes with an antilock brake sensor data that closes the solenoid valve preventing the fluid from entering certain circuits while sending a signal to the moving wheel. If the wheel persists on moving, the sensor data reopens the solenoid valve to trigger the circuit and allow the fluid to flow to the moving wheel. Lack of hydraulic fluid may disable the antilock system but allows the driver to take full control of the vehicle.

While driving at a high speed, the antilock brake sensor alarm turns on. This would probably be the sound that the driver will hear if he is driving at approximately 20 km/h as it is a standard procedure for the antilock system but when he reduces his speed to below 20 km/h, the alarm will automatically shut off.
